Dear Family, Friends and Partners in the Gospel,
Last night we had the joy of sharing about God’s work in Tokyo with a children’s Bible club called AWANA. Heavy snowfall had just begun, so as several children prayed over our time together, they asked God for safe travels home for everyone. After we finished up at AWANA, we traveled to our home for the night. Then, you know what? We made it, safe and sound to our destination in Des Moines—thank you, Lord! How often do we pray for things, big or small, and forget to recognize the One who answers?
We’d like to celebrate with you how God has answered your prayers over our first two years of ministry in Tokyo. Here are some specific requests we’ve asked you to pray over and answers we’ve witnessed:
- God granted favor in growing relationships with our next-door neighbors and language teachers
- Jo Beth’s friend Chie became a Christ-follower last summer
- God has gathered hundreds of people to join in regular prayer for Tokyo
- Six interns joined us in ministry last summer, half are considering returning to Japan for missions
- Our baby arrived safely last autumn, and God provided us all with safe travels to the States
- God continues to lead our team toward a specific church planting location (Waseda, Tokyo)
Let’s pause and give thanks together to the God who answers prayer—not for our sake, but for His glory! How else might God have answered your prayers? Let’s give thanks and give Him the glory!
Please continue to lift us up in the following areas:
- Pray for Tokyo, revival in His church and gospel-saturation among the 37 million souls who live there! Join prayYamanote!
- Pray for God to orchestrate a church-planting partnership with a national leader after God’s own heart
- We continue to raise support for our return to ministry in Tokyo (about 30% of our budget needed)
- Support raising has been joyful and encouraging, but the travel has been wearisome. We love connecting with supporters, but we need His strength, love, and rest.
You have supported us in so many ways and we thank the Lord for you!
