Dear Family, Friends, and Partners in the Gospel,
Last month we took the opportunity to introduce two of our three new teammates. Now we’d like to you to meet Michiyo, our third new teammate!
I was saved as an international student at a US college through a missionary couple. I am Japanese, but I grew up in Southeast Asia, Bangkok and Jakarta, then attended U.S. schools for 8 years (California State University, Northridge-B.A. in Journalism, and Multnomah Biblical Seminary-M.A. in Pastoral Studies). I previously worked at New Balance Japan, and worked with International Students Inc. I joined EFCA ReachGlobal’s Tokyo City Team in the fall of 2015. I plan to reach out to the students at Waseda University, which has the most international students in Japan (4,300). My desire is to create a kingdom community in which Japanese and international students can mingle together to discover the kingdom culture beyond any cultures and find their identity together in Christ.
What has the Lee Family been up to?
Since returning for home-assignment this winter, we have traveled to more than 20 churches across the Midwest to share updates about the Tokyo ministry. We’ve also had the opportunity to personally connect with many families and individuals who have held us up in prayer and support for these past couple of years. We would not be able to stay on the mission field without these partners!
In the past month we’ve been blessed to visit partnering churches in Sioux Center, IA, Earlham, IA, Osceola, IA, Columbia, MO, and Sheldon, IA. During these visits God has strengthened our relationships with these dear partners as we are mutually encouraged to press on for the sake of the gospel.
Our support level is now at 89% and we are planning to return to Tokyo in mid-October, but we need to be fully supported before we can dig back into ministry again. Would you pray about the possibility of partnering with us financially?
At the same time, we also want to be good partners—this goes both ways! Please let us know how we can be praying for you, as you continue in God’s kingdom work right where He has placed you. Thank you for all the ways you encourage and equip us for ministry.
19 @ 50 still needed!
We have been praying for 50 additional individuals, families or churches to partner with us in ministry. If each partner committed to $50 each month, our financial needs would be met. Over the past couple of weeks we have seen a few more partners come alongside us financially, praise God! We are still looking for 19 more commitments to meet this goal! Would you join us in prayer?
We thank the Lord for you and your partnership in the gospel!
