Dear Supporters,
We are overjoyed to be writing this update from Chiba, Japan! During the month of October, we took a trip to visit John’s relatives in S. Korea—a trip for which we had been planning and saving for nearly two years. Shortly before departure for this trip, we realized that we could use frequent flyer miles to visit our dear friends and co-laborers in Japan while we were in Asia. What a wonderful gift!
Our time in S. Korea was deeply blessed by God’s grace. We traveled with John’s mother, Omuk, and his sister Debra and her fiancee. Omuk took us to visit two of her sisters and one of her brothers who are still living in Seoul. She shared with us how she had been praying for years about some strained relationships among her siblings who do not yet know Christ—and how she had been planning how to try to act as peacemaker among them. However when arrived in Korea and spent time with all of the siblings together, the peace just simply came. God used the very act of Omuk’s visit to draw her brothers and sisters into contact as they had not been in years. Praise Him! We are so thankful. Please pray for God’s grace to be clear in their hearts and minds, and for the salvation of the entire family.
During our four days in here in Japan, we have stayed with the Stoddard family who are on staff with ReachGlobal. It is so good to fellowship with them and to hear updates on the direction of the ministry since we were here in October 2011. We were also able to meet the Nakazawa family, who have joined the Stoddards in ministry this year. We are deeply encouraged to be with them and learn more about their ministry in Tokyo.
And finally, we were able to re-connect with Jo Beth’s Japanese friend from college who now lives and works in Tokyo. We’ll call her ‘Yookie’. We have been honored to be hosted by Yookie and the family that rents a room to her. They invited us for dinner, and we had a wonderful time talking and eating together. Please pray for their hearts to be drawn to seek truth! We long for them to accept the grace of Christ into their lives.
This is our last night in Japan, and tomorrow we begin our journey back to the States to continue seeking out partners for our future ministry to Japan. Thank you so much for your loving prayers and support. Let the nations praise Him!
